- Power On Self-Test (POST)
Many system builders prefer to power up the board before any thing further is installed -
this is to verify that the board is in fact good and will power up without problems.
Assuming you have the motherboard installed into the case, then to do this, simply plug
the ATX power connector into the motherboard and then plug in the power for the PC and
power it up. A series of beeps should be heard - see your motherboard manual for the beep
codes. Generally speaking, if the board powers up and goes through the beep code process,
all is well.
